Don Baas, PT
Don graduated from Fresno State University in 1990 and has been providing patient care, practice management and clinical development since. Don is taking an administrative and leadership role for Baas Physical Therapy and is the CEO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., a multi-practice company with offices from the Sacramento area north of Redding, of which Baas Physical Therapy belongs. Don is a cycling enthusiast, an avid fisherman, and enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with his family. He and his wife Erin have two children at home, and a third that is married with a young son of their own.
Brian Baas, PT
Brian also graduated from Fresno State University in 1992 and has been providing patient care, practice management, and clinical development since. Brian is also taking an administrative and leadership role for Baas Physical Therapy as well as providing patient care. Brian is the CFO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., a growing organization of outpatient physical therapy practices. He is involved in community outreaches, has served as Anderson High Schools athletic team therapist, and enjoys developing physical therapy programs. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his two daughters, playing basketball, golfing, wake-surfing, and cycling.
Kevin Elo, MPT, ATC/L, CSCS, CEAS
Kevin Elo earned his Master's in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville, is a Licensed Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. Over the past 20 years, he has been involved significantly in orthopedics, sports medicine, performing arts medicine, and work related rehabilitation. He has been a successful private practice owner for eight years in the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland area. Highlights of his career have included working at the NFL Combine medical re-check, being a Preferred Provider of Physical Therapy/Athletic Training for USA Gymnastics, participating as an initial member of the Drum Corps Medical Project, as well as serving as an Athletic Trainer at the High School/College/Professional levels. Kevin has also served as a consultant for sports teams, as well as various businesses for health/wellness/ergonomics. Kevin is an active percussionist/drummer, a voice-over artist, plays volleyball and basketball, coaches for youth athletics, and is busy in the church music ministry, all while being a father to six wonderfully active children.
Martin Hoogendijk, DPT
Martin is originally from the hills north of Los Angeles, but has also lived in Washington and New York states for extended periods of time. He attended the University of Washington in Seattle for undergraduate studies, receiving a BS in chemistry in order to be a better cook. Looking to enter the field of healthcare, he worked as a CNA for a year in Rochester, NY before obtaining his DPT from Nazareth College of Rochester. While in college, he was introduced to yoga as a form of exercise but during the last year of grad school, he realized the therapeutic benefits of the practice and it now serves as a component of his approach to therapy. To add to his available treatment options, Martin is currently training to become a certified yoga instructor. He strives to broaden the depth of his knowledge and more effectively heal and empower his patients. Martin enjoys spending his free time with family and friends, biking on roads and trails, philosophizing, hiking, paddle boarding, rock climbing, churning out ice cream, and playing with his glorious dog, Luna.
Michelle Leavell-Penn, PTA
Michelle graduated from Holistic Institute of Berkley for Massage Therapy in 1985 and developed her own private practice from 1992 to 2016. She furthered her education at Coleman College in Houston Texas, graduating from an Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program and receiving her license in 2007. She went on to specialize in Aquatic Therapy Certificates at the Aquatic Therapy Rehab Institute, and has over 5 years of experience in Aquatic Orthopedic care, with an emphasis on core and lumbar stability. Michelle is dedicated to providing special care to each individual patient, and to providing a fun atmosphere while educating patients and assisting in reaching therapy goals. Michelle is a certified scuba diver and also enjoys camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and singing in the choir at church.
Hillary, PT Tech
Hillary is a native of Northern California with over 4 years of physical therapy aide experience. She enjoys assisting patients in their recovery from injuries and everyday aches and pain. Hillary has worked at Baas Physical Therapy since January of 2013. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.
Hope, PT Tech
Hope is originally from the Big Island of Hawaii, where she attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo and received her Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Hope has worked at Baas Physical Therapy since 2015 and enjoys the connections she has made with our patients while helping each individual perform to the best of their ability. When she is not working, Hope likes hiking, dancing, and going on adventures to new places.
David, PT Tech
David graduated in 2014 from CSU Sacramento with his Bachelor's in Kinesiology and Exercise Science. In 2017, he earned his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification (CSCS) through the National Strength and Training Association (NSCA). He had several years' work experience as an aide before joining the team at Baas Physical Therapy in 2017. When he is not working, David enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah, being outdoors, and playing guitar.
Jillian, PT Tech
Jillian was born and raised in Redding. As a PT Tech at Baas Physical Therapy, she loves meeting new people and developing relationships with patients. Jillian has attended Shasta College and intends to pursue a career as a PTA. In her free time, she enjoys being with family and friends, and hanging out with her husband and their dog, Rosa.
Matt, PT Tech
Matt is a Southern California transplant who moved to Northern California his freshman year of high school. It took about seven years to become accustomed to his new lifestyle, and now Matt enjoys snowboarding, fishing, and chilling out at the lakes with his small yet growing family. Prior to working at Baas Physical Therapy, Matt graduated from CSU Chico with his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology. He worked as a manager for Burrito Bandito while attending college and has also worked for Shasta Marina and Macy's, all of which have given him an ample amount of customer service skills that he applies as a Physical Therapy Tech. Matt enjoys most the experiences he gets with our patients and all the knowledge he has learned from the Physical Therapists he works under.
Megan, Scheduling Coordinator, Front Desk Receptionist
Megan is originally from Orange County, CA and just recently relocated to Shasta Lake City. She is a friendly and kind individual who enjoys interacting with the clinic patients. Megan is dedicated to providing excellent care through creating a welcoming and efficient front office environment. Her organizational skills and can-do attitude make her an excellent receptionist. Megan loves being a mother to her two boys and in her spare time she enjoys reading non-fiction books.
Marney, Insurance Coordinator, Front Desk Receptionist
Marney grew up in Red Bluff and has spent her life here in the North State. She worked many years in back office positions in the medical field before joining our team. Marney enjoys getting to know the patients at Baas Physical Therapy, helping with any insurance questions they may have. When she is not in the office, you can find Marney coaching softball for Simpson University, where she has been an assistant to her father for 10 years. Any free time she has is spent with her amazing family - going on adventures, traveling, participating in sports, and taking as many trips to the coast as they can manage.
