Don Baas, PT

Don Baas, PT

Don graduated from Fresno State University in 1990 and has been providing patient care, practice management and clinical development since. Don is taking an administrative and leadership role for Baas Physical Therapy and is the CEO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., a multi-practice company with offices from the Sacramento area north of Redding, of which Baas Physical Therapy belongs. Don is a cycling enthusiast, an avid fisherman, and enjoys hiking, biking, and traveling with his family. He and his wife Erin have two children at home, and a third that is married with a young son of their own.

Brian Baas, PT

Brian Baas, PT

Brian also graduated from Fresno State University in 1992 and has been providing patient care, practice management, and clinical development since. Brian is also taking an administrative and leadership role for Baas Physical Therapy as well as providing patient care. Brian is the CFO and co-developer/co-owner of Western Physical Therapy, Inc., a growing organization of outpatient physical therapy practices. He is involved in community outreaches, has served as Anderson High Schools athletic team therapist, and enjoys developing physical therapy programs. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his two daughters, playing basketball, golfing, wake-surfing, and cycling.

Kevin Elo, MPT, ATC/L, CSCS, CEAS

Kevin Elo has earned his Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville, is a Licensed Athletic Trainer, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Certified Ergonomic Assessment Specialist. Over the past 20 years, he has been involved significantly in orthopedics, sports medicine, performing arts medicine, and work related rehabilitation. He has been a successful private practice owner for eight years in the Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland area. Highlights of his career have included working at the NFL Combine medical re-check, being a Preferred Provider of Physical Therapy/Athletic Training for USA Gymnastics, an initial member of the Drum Corps Medical Project, as well as serving as an Athletic Trainer at the High School/College/Professional levels. Kevin has also served as a consultant for sports teams, as well as various businesses for health/wellness/ergonomics. Kevin is an active percussionist/drummer, is a voice-over artist, plays volleyball and basketball, youth athletic coach, and is busy in the church music ministry. He recently moved from Indiana, with his fantastic wife, Allison, and six wonderfully active children.

Michelle Leavell-Penn, PTA

Michelle Leavell-Penn, PTA

Michelle graduated from Holistic Institute of Berkley for Massage Therapy in 1985 and developed her own private practice from 1992 to 2016. She furthered her education at Coleman College in Houston Texas, graduating from an Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program and receiving her license in 2007. She went on to specialize in Aquatic Therapy Certificates at the Aquatic Therapy Rehab Institute, and has over 5 years of experience in Aquatic Orthopedic care, with an emphasis on core and lumbar stability. Michelle is dedicated to providing special care to each individual patient, and to providing a fun atmosphere while educating patients and assisting in reaching therapy goals. Michelle is a certified scuba diver and also enjoys camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, and singing in the choir at church.

Hillary, PT Tech

Hillary is a native of Northern California with over 4 years of physical therapy aide experience. She enjoys assisting patients in their recovery from injuries and everyday aches and pain. Hillary has worked at Baas Physical Therapy since January of 2013. During her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Christina, PT Tech

Christina, PT Tech

Christina is one of our Aqua Physical Therapy Technicians here at Baas Physical Therapy. She joined the staff in September 2014. Christina is also an ACE-Certified Group Fitness Instructor with Body and Soul Fitness, and enjoys helping patients with their aquatic exercises on their road to recovery. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo. Christina and her husband enjoy swing dancing, hiking, camping, and hosting their Church Bible study.

Joel was born in Florida and raised in North Carolina before moving to the Redding area and becoming part of our team in September 2017. Joel has a diverse work background, including employment with state parks and with Shasta Family YMCA and Shasta Rock Club. At Baas Physical Therapy, he greatly enjoys assisting the aquatic therapy patients and being a part of their recovery process.In his spare time, Joel trains at Shasta Rock Club, and he enjoys rock climbing and hiking in the Northern California area with his wife.

Cat, Insurance Coordinator, Front Desk Receptionist

Cat grew up in Redding and enjoyed playing softball, basketball, volleyball and running track. As a former patient herself, she enjoys being able to encourage patients as they are recovering from injury, illness and life. She has over 11 years’ experience working in the insurance field, which she brings to her position as Insurance Coordinator at Baas Physical Therapy. When she has free time, Cat likes to spend it catching up with friends, hanging out with her kids, going to local theater art performances and concerts, and walking at charity events.

Grace, Referral Coordinator, Front Desk Receptionist

Grace is originally from Northern California and has worked at Baas Physical Therapy since June 2017. She has been a caregiver for the elderly for several years before joining our team to further her job experience. She enjoys the practicality of helping others recover and learn how to live their daily lives more effectively. In her free time, Grace enjoys camping, crafting, hammocking, and keeping in touch with her nine siblings.
